The objective(s) of the tool

Enhancing visibility and communicating contents of gender studies (current debates, activities, research work, literature, cultural production, initiatives, activism) as well as informing on gender studies and the advancement of women at the University of Salzburg (scholarships, grants, lectures, courses, continuing education and training). Targeted low-threshold distribution among all university staff and students as well as interested parties outside the university with the intention of introducing gendup’s activities and elucidating the diversity inherent in gender studies. Besides being aimed at experts, it is also meant to reach and sensitize people who have little or no interest in gender studies content.

Description of the tool

The gender studies magazine Zeit-Schrift is published three times a year. Financing is provided by gendup, various sources contribute: gendup in large parts, but also students, cooperation partners and interested writers. gendup provides editorial support.

The content of the periodical is divided into several sections:

  • Gender in Motion: interviews, comments, individual contributions relating to current debates
  • Gender research: news about scholarships and research networks, insights into research work
  • Gender and cultural production: projects, analyses and critiques in the artistic-cultural field.
  • Additionally: reviews, book evaluations, previews

How the tool works, practical experience

The mixture of academic and non-academic contributions as well as the fact that the magazine is readable for a broad audience receive particular praise.
