Annually, two doctoral scholarships for gender equality are announced by the Centre for Gender Studies (ZfG). After a jury has reviewed the applications, scholarships are awarded in organizational coordination with the university’s doctoral schools. Budgeting is specified in the target-setting and performance agreements between the Rector’s office and the ZfG

Apart from promoting women and gender studies in the fields of music and theatre, doctoral scholarships for gender equality also foster gender skills in teaching and science, as well as in the development and exploration of new fields of research. All doctoral candidates are invited to apply.

The yearly call for applications for gender equality doctoral scholarships at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz corresponds to the objectives of the advancement of women and gender research and enhances gender awareness and skills in teaching and science. Fulfillment of these objectives is mandated in the university’s statutes (see Sections 94-96). A detailed definition of the objectives is also included in the Development Plan for 2016-2021 (Chapter 5: Gender and diversity), and in the new Plan for Equal Opportunities and the Advancement of Women.
