Relation to gender equality targets

In accordance with the package of measures described in TU Wien’s 2016-2018 Development Plan, the website contributes to greater equality between men and women by rendering positive role models more visible. The Career Advancement Plan for Women at TU Wien also states: “Female students should be encouraged to pursue an academic career by the example of female role models.” (Preamble)

The objective(s) of the tool

Rendering role models visible, and presenting the history of women in technical professions, as well as highlighting current initiatives to support women in their professional careers at TU Wien

Description of the tool

Presented in a diverse manner in order to make “women’s traces” at today’s TU Wien visible, female professors, young researchers, mentors, and graduates offer manifold insights into their working lives, their career paths and into the experiences gathered along the way. Prior female role models and their paths are presented through portraits of pioneering women and trailblazers, going back to 1913.

The website includes the following sections: News about women // Portraits of today’s female professors, young researchers & graduates // Pioneers and trailblazers // Outstanding women recognized with awards and accolades // Mentors // HTU (TU Wien students’ union) women’s unit // Facts and figures – statistics and points of interest from the history of women at TU Wien // Art projects – images, collages, film and video // Extensive collection of links // Acknowledgments and legal information
